Side lying with a twist. The position named after a wine opener. We are not sure what it says about us as a species that we keep doing this.

The Corkscrew is a side lying position where the receivers torso and hips are twisted at slightly different angles. Bodies look spiraled. Penetration happens at an angle that no other position quite gets to. Underrated. Underused.

What It Actually Is

Receiver lies on side. Top leg lifted. Torso twists slightly toward the giver who is positioned behind. The body has a corkscrew twist between hips and shoulders.

Bottom partner lies on their side. Lower leg straight. Upper leg bent and lifted up or forward. Top partner lies behind, slightly above. Receivers torso rotates slightly so the chest faces more toward the bed than the side. The hips stay sideways, but the shoulders are partially face down. This twist is the corkscrew. Penetration happens at this twisted angle.

The position is rare in lists because it requires actual setup and a diagram to understand. Most position guides skip it because text cant easily explain the twist. We are including it because it earns its place when actually performed.

How To Actually Do It

Receiver lies on side
Standard side lying. Bottom leg straight along the bed. Pillow under the head if you want.

Top leg lifts
Top leg bends at the knee and lifts forward, like you are starting to roll onto your stomach but stopping halfway. The lifted leg can rest against the giver, or be supported by the giver, depending on whats comfortable.

Twist the upper body
Receiver rotates the torso slightly forward (toward the bed). The shoulders are now angled differently from the hips. This is the corkscrew. Look up an image. The twist is the whole position.

Giver positions behind and above
Top partner gets in behind the receiver, slightly elevated, partially over the receivers hip. Penetration happens at the twisted angle this creates.

Move slow at the new angle
The penetration angle is unfamiliar. The receivers internal anatomy is hit at a sideways twist no other position creates. Slow. Communicate. The right adjustment for this position is small but matters.

Why Its Worth The Setup

Corkscrew is the position that hits a different part of you and you dont know what to do with that information.

A reasonable reaction

The twisted spine and rotated hip create a penetration angle that side lying spooning, doggy, and missionary all fail to reach. For some receivers this lands as a new sensation. For others it just feels weird. The hit rate is real but its not 100 percent. You will know within the first minute whether your bodies like the angle.

Quick aside. Corkscrew lives in the same neighborhood as Pretzel Dip in that both rely on body twist for the angle. Different setup, similar logic. If one works for you, try the other.

Common Mistakes

Skipping the visual. Trying to set up from text alone. Confusion. Fix: image search.

Forcing the twist. Twisting the spine further than is comfortable. Fix: small twist. Comfortable range only.

Going hard fast. The twisted angle does not handle hard thrusts well. Fix: slow.

No communication on adjustments. Half inch matters here. Fix: talk during.
