Sex in the pool. Sounds romantic in the brochure. Has more nuance in person. Heres what works, what doesnt, and the things nobody tells you.

Pool sex is one of those things that LOOKS amazing in vacation marketing and has way more friction in real life. Lets talk about why and what to actually do about it.

The Honest Reality

Water dries out lubrication. Pool chemicals can irritate. Cold water complicates things. The romance is a vibe more than a sensation.

Three issues with water sex specifically. First: water washes away natural lubrication, making sex drier than it would be on land. Second: pool chemicals (chlorine, salt, etc.) can irritate sensitive skin and tissues. Third: temperature affects everything. None of these are deal breakers. They are the things to know about up front so you can plan around them.

What Actually Works

Water based lube washes away. Silicone lube stays on. Bring some. Apply before. Reapply during.

Stay near the wall or stairs
Treading water during sex is impossible. Use the side of the pool, the steps, or a shallow area where you can stand. The pool doesnt support your weight without effort.
